Today after reading a blog entry by Nicholas Cardot called The 15 Best WordPress Plugins to Use in 2010, he mentioned a pluging called WPtouch iPhone Theme that helps mobile phone internet users to your site easier and faster than the normal theme that is designed for a regular sized theme. Nicholas says this is a must have plugin for 2010 and I have to agree. Everyday more and more mobile phone users upgrade to internet ready smartphones and actually use their phones to surf the net.
The installation and configuration was easy. Just go to your admin screen and select install new plugin> and search for WPtouch>install. Once installed and activated go to settings and configure it.
So What Should Theme Look Like?
Once configured a smatphone or iPhone user should see your site with the below screenshots. These are just a few of the screenshots from WPtouch WordPress plugin install site.
The Results
Unfortunately I do not have a smartphone of any type to test the plugin and how it is configured for my site. What I would like from readers that have smartphones and iPhones is; please test it and tell me what you think, if there are errors or if I should remove the plugin.
Yeah I have heard about that plugin too. And I think it's cool and really useful but when I look at my stats then I have very few users that are surfing my web site with the iPhone so I haven't implemented it yet.

I’m on mobile with Opera Mini and I just get the standard page. Although with the mobile plugins I like the option to switch to Desktop view, if the user chooses to.
Thanks for checking, I will have to look into this. This weekend, I will have access to iphone and a blackberry, I will tested and see what I find.
WPTouch has that option. At the bottom on the phone, you can turn mobile off.
I love this plugin but something must be wrong with it on your site. I have an android. The site comes up normal but then once fully loaded, it goes to a dark screen but my address bar is still showing and buttons on the left show.
Thanks for testing, somehow the plugin was deactivated. I just updated and reconfigured the plugin. If you get the chance, please test and let me know if its working.
Very, Very cool site – bookmarked!!

An easy way to mostly test what your site looks like on mobile sites is the user agent extension for Firefox. It allows you to switch what your site looks like on different browsers / devices. It isn’t perfect but it can give you a general idea.
I have a newer site, so will keep it in mind. My sister has established sites and so far does not get many searches from mobil phones. I am sure though that this will increase as time goes on. I will keep this plug in in mind.
